Art that

to the wild

Step Into My World

Immerse yourself in an art practice rooted in conservation, mindfulness, and deep attention to the natural world.

I’m Jade Shepherd, an artist inspired by time spent listening to the land and moving through different landscapes. Working primarily in pen and ink, with explorations in paint and digital media, I create visual stories shaped by observation, care, and a reverence for the wild.

Where Attention Becomes Care

  • A Phoenix made of flames and a silhoute of a half human half elf standing on a pile of floating embers and ash

    The Phoenix

A symbol of renewal and resilience, rising from loss toward transformation and ecological rebirth.

  • a photo of a luscious green jungle with an African elephant bathing in sunlight

    Elephant In The Bloom

Honoring strength, memory, and gentleness, this piece reflects the deep intelligence and vulnerability of elephants within fragile ecosystems.

  • pen and ink drawing of an hourglass where inside the sands are dropping to turbulent water way with a skyline background. the hourglass has broken and now the sands are spilling out.

    Timeless

A witnessing of time’s narrowing path, where attention and action hold the power to protect what lives.

  • pen and ink drawing of a mountainous landscape, a bear, fireflies, a cabin with smoke coming from the chimney and a river flowing through.

    The Smoky's

An ode to ancient mountains, layered forests, and the living breath of a landscape shaped by time, mist, and memory.

The Living Triad

Three woven threads that shape how the work takes place

Ecological Storytelling

I create visual stories shaped by encounters with the natural world, drawing from myth, symbolism, and lived experience. Each piece is an offering of attention, honoring the interwoven lives, rhythms, and systems that hold us all.

Attentive Presence

My work begins with presence rather than production. By slowing down and paying close attention, I create space to notice what is fragile, overlooked, or quietly enduring, allowing each piece to grow from genuine relationship rather than urgency alone.

Conservation is not an abstract idea in my work, but a responsibility. Through art, collaboration, and shared storytelling, I support real efforts to protect vulnerable species, landscapes, and futures, with 10 percent of all artwork proceeds dedicated to conservation initiatives, transforming attention into care and care into action.

Conservation as Care in Action

Following the Living Thread

Once a month, I share thoughtful letters reflecting on art, conservation, and care for the living world. These notes offer glimpses into my studio practice, collaborations with conservation organizations, and the ways art can support meaningful ecological impact.
